Title:       Senior Manager, Global Accounting Operations

Location: South San Francisco, CA

The ‘Senior Manager, Global Accounting Operations’ is a key role providing accounting leadership and guidance to the business in accordance with US GAAP. They will be responsible for managing the global accounting quality close process including the consolidation and reporting of our financial results which will be performed in Microsoft Dynamics AX. The role would also be tasked with managing external audit deliverables, will be responsible for internal controls relating to financial reporting and the management of the AX chart of accounts. The senior manager will be a key contact between the accounting team and FP&A, legal, operations, tax, treasury and internal audit teams based around the world.

 

This is a key role in Fluidigm’s accounting organization and will focus on driving best practice and championing continual process, system automation and control improvements, they will also be the ‘Record to Report’ global process owner.

 

You Will:

  • Own and manage the monthly closing process using Microsoft Dynamics AX finance system  including US GAAP compliant consolidation, intercompany eliminations (P&L, Balance Sheet and profit on inventory), foreign currency reporting (including loading exchange rates) and opening and closing sub-modules and periods
  • Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance for financial reporting
  • Manage global bank reconciliations, royalty, bonus, commissions, stock based compensation and IT/Facilities allocation entries
  • Oversee the Japanese entities financial results to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Create and approve journal entries as and when required during the close
  • Global Chart of Account maintenance
  • Production of quarterly US GAAP compliant cash flow statements
  • Assist in the production of monthly and quarterly reports for the CFO including reporting significant items
  • Support quarterly external audit and manage the PBC deliverables
  • Manage the US and European fixed asset registers including additions, disposals, construction in progress, run depreciation and manage the global annual asset verification and life review process
  • Production of quarterly SEC filing footnotes including fair value of financial instruments, asset grids, minimum leases commitments and debt amortization schedules
  • Manage the global compliance schedule and timeline to provide senior leaders with a view on the progression of local statutory audits and tax filings. Work with local teams and agencies to ensure compliance in Canada, Singapore, China, US, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy
  • Responsible for issuance of ‘quarterly non-sales contracts representation letter’ to all employees who sign contracts with third parties
  • Ensure compliance with various data protection acts when sharing information around the world
  • Develop accounting guidelines and policies where required to ensure global consistency of reporting and US GAAP compliance
  • Set-up and run deep dive review of each entities financial statements (health check)
  • Global ‘Record to Report’ process owner driving standardization, automation, simplification, continuous improvement and innovation around the world
  • Work with ‘Director of SEC and Technical Accounting’ on complex accounting transactions
  • Support the ‘Associate Director, Global SOX & Compliance’ with various internal audits
  • Work with the ‘Associate Director of Tax’ and inventory teams to review transfer prices around the world and ensure compliance
  • Support the team to complete various ad-hoc tasks
  • Work with legal, tax, treasury, operational, shared service center in Singapore and FP&A teams to manage any accounting queries
  • Oversee and manage the work of a staff accountant

 

Education and Experience:

  • Accounting Degree
  • CPA or equivalent overseas chartered accounting qualification required
  • 8+ years in progressive accounting roles
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics AX  is essential 
  • Experience of Atlas Reporting and BlackLine account reconciliations is a plus
  • Excellent excel skills are required
